HS Graduation

A Little Bit About My Education

I graduated from The Colony High School in Lewisville ISD. I was able to maintain an 4.0 GPA while being enrolled in many Honors and Advanced Placement courses. I was also a member of the National Honor Society and was active in Technical Theatre; creating sets, painting, stage managing, lights, etc.

I received my Bachelor's degree from Texas Woman's University. I majored in General Studies with a focus in English. After graduation, it became clear that I was meant to be an Elementary School Teacher. I decided to enroll in the Alternative Certification Program through Texas Teachers and passed my TExES EC-6, EC-12 Special Education and ESL Supplemental exams. I then became a substitute teacher for Northwest ISD for two years, followed by completing 12 weeks of student teaching in the district. I spent 6 of those weeks student teaching in First Grade and the 6 remaining weeks student teaching in PACEE, which is a classroom specially designed for students with communication and social delays. Shortly after completing my student teaching I was offered a position as a 2nd Grade Teacher at a Non-Profit Private School.

I then relocated to South East Florida and transferred my Generalist certification. I am now certified to teach K-6 in the state of Florida.
